Tesla fans over the sales order announced on Monday in the first quarter of the current year exaggerated. With 25,000 vehicles, the founder Elon Musk was able to increase its deliveries by 69 percent compared to the same quarter of the previous year. Tesla is now worth more than Ford.

With 25,000 vehicles Tesla delivered only a few hundred electric cars more than in the third quarter of 2016. At that time the last sales record was set up. The latest record was already foreseeable because production problems prevented the delivery of thousands of vehicles by the end of 2016.

Further details show that the sales record is not as impressive as it seems at first sight. Compared to the previous record quarter (2016), at the beginning of the year, even 2,350 fewer models were delivered. The new best value in sales is mainly due to the account of the electric SUVs Model X, whose production was still powerful at the beginning of 2016.

Because of the fact that the model X is going round again and the demand continues to grow. Tesla is now fulfilling its own targets with its latest sales figures. In the first half of 2017, the number of vehicles delivered was to be increased to 50,000, Elon Musk had announced. With the current sales figures one is on the schedule – not less, but also no more.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk introduces the Model 3

The wait has come to an end. On the evening of March 31, 2016. Tesla presents his long-awaited first electric car for the mass market which is eagerly anticipated by many. Compared to the Tesla Roadster (now running), as well as the current Model S and Model X, the Model 3 is only about half as expensive. At the base price of around 35,000 US Dollars, customers can already order it today.

It will be more exciting in the third quarter. Then the production of the model 3 starts. The “Tesla for all” is expected to come on the market in the middle of 2018 and the number of deliveries will rise to 500,000. In the US, the model is expected to be available for an entry price of $ 35,000. Even today Tesla is said to have received 400,000 pre-orders.

Until then there is still a long way. Corporations like Toyota and VW now sell more cars in one day than Tesla in the entire quarter.
